Tourism businesses - Restaurant Zagoria ( Zagoria, Slavic word meaning "behind the mountains " ) is a network of 46 villages located on the slopes of Pindos mountain range , about 40 km north of Ioannina . The area is divided into Zagoria Central Zagoria, East and West Zagoria Zagoria . Autonomous region was under Turkish rule which flourished spiritually and financially. Here were born renowned Greeks contributed greatly to the intellectual life as well as renowned benefactors . The area , most of which was declared a national park in 1973 , surrounded by the mountains Timfi, Smolikas and Mitsikeli , the peaks of which reach altitudes of 1,800 to 2,600 meters.
